Where the money actually goes
Payment setup looks like a detail until you follow a single ₹2,000 bill from the client's phone to your bank account. The route it takes decides how quickly you are paid, what it costs you, and whether reconciling the day's takings is five minutes of work or an hour.
At an Indian salon counter most of that bill arrives by UPI, some by card, a little in cash. What matters is whose account it lands in. Running payments through your own gateway means the settlement relationship, the rates and the dispute process are yours; a platform wallet means they belong to the platform, and your money moves on its schedule rather than your own.
Take deposits on the services where a no-show costs an afternoon, and keep a card on file for the clients who repeatedly do not turn up. Then reconcile daily rather than monthly — match the day's takings against what actually settled, and chase the difference the same week. A discrepancy found in March, about January, is a discrepancy nobody can explain.
